Spreading the game
Over 60 children from five primary schools took part in six weeks of coaching and a Tag Rugby League Tournament co-ordinated by the East Lancashire Community Rugby League Coach & Hyndburn Rugby League Development Group.
The tournament took place at Higham’s playing fields Accrington, and taking part were St Anne’s & St Josephs, Sacred Heart, St Mary’s Clayton Le Moors and St Oswald’s, who are all from the Mount Carmel RC High school cluster.
The competition is the start of a three year plan to develop Rugby League in the Hyndburn area and to increase participation through the community clubs at Accrington Wildcats for juniors and Accrington Panthers for open age.
